Magnetos are all we do — and that is the point.
A magneto is the ignition system of a piston engine. When it fails, the aircraft does not fly. We route every unit to the scope it actually needs, quote it before we consume a single part, and release it on the form the FAA expects to see.
Overhaul
Complete teardown, cleaning, component-level inspection, replacement of every life-limited item to the manufacturer's kit, reassembly to recorded torque, and full test. Three to five days.
Repair
Correction of a specific known discrepancy without a full overhaul cycle. The unit is opened only as far as the repair requires, and findings are quoted before we proceed.
Bench Test
Performance verification with recorded results, no teardown, one-day turnaround. The right first step when you need to know whether a unit is serviceable.
Inspection & IRAN
Inspect and repair as necessary. We open the unit, report what we find with our recommendation — then wait. Nothing is consumed until you approve a scope and a price.
500-Hour Inspection
Scheduled inspection to the manufacturer's 500-hour kit, with contact assembly and wear items addressed and results recorded against the unit's serial number.
Recertification
Return an in-date unit to service with current documentation, a verified airworthiness directive and service bulletin review, and a fresh airworthiness release.
One work order number holds the entire history.
Every unit runs this path. Reduced scopes skip stages that do not apply — a bench test does not get torn down — but no unit skips a stage to save time.
Incoming
Recorded by part and serial number, arrival condition and anything missing. Receiver signs; work order number issued.
Teardown
Disassembly and cleaning, signed at each station, components routed for individual evaluation.
Inspection
Every listed component examined and recorded pass or fail, watching for the hidden damage a visual check misses.
Quote
Findings drive a bill of materials and a price. Nothing is consumed until you approve the scope.
NDT / FPI
Penetrant inspection by an approved outside vendor under ASTM E1417. No part proceeds to paint, assembly or installation while its status is unresolved.
Parts
Reserved against the work order with lot, serial and certification trace. Shortages become a recorded status, not a silent delay.
Assembly & Test
Torque recorded against the calibrated tool used, then bench and final test. Failures loop back through rework.
Release
8130-3 generates from controlled fields only after every discrepancy closes. An authorized person signs Block 14.
Why stage 05 is boxed: it is the one gate that stops everything. A pending, rejected or undocumented penetrant inspection result holds the unit where it stands — not as a matter of discipline, but because the unit does not leave the hold. This is the single control that most distinguishes a defensible repair station record from a hopeful one.
Champion Slick and Continental magnetos.
We work to current manufacturer technical data and record the manual revision in use against every work order, so no unit is ever worked to superseded instructions.

Don't see your unit? Model coverage changes as technical data and tooling are added. Call (954) 471-5005 or send the part number and serial number and we'll confirm whether it's within our rating before you ship. New to magneto overhaul? Start with our owner's guide.
Built for the audit, not just the invoice.
Any shop can tell you it is FAA certificated. These are the specific controls that make the certificate mean something.
AD & Service Bulletin Review
Applicability checked and recorded before release, reflected in the remarks block of the 8130-3.
Approved Vendor Control
External NDT issued only to a vendor approved for that scope, with the method cited on the repair order.
Serialized Traceability
Units tracked by serial number, parts by lot or serial, certification trace retained throughout.
Calibrated Tooling
Torque recorded against the specific tool used, calibration status verified at the point of use.
Current Technical Data
Manual and revision recorded on the work order, so no unit is worked to superseded instructions.
Controlled Release Authority
Block 14 signed only by personnel on the release roster, under the repair station certificate number.
What operators ask us.
How is an overhaul different from a repair?
Do you perform fluorescent penetrant inspection in-house?
Will you tell me the cost before you start?
How long does an overhaul take?
What paperwork comes back with my magneto?
Send us the part number. We'll tell you what it needs.
Give us the model, part number and serial number of your unit and what you are seeing. We'll confirm it's within our rating and come back with a scope and a price before anything ships.
